Thesis Statement
President Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th president
of the United States exemplified his significance and importance as a leader not only
through making the U.S economy grow prosperous and the development of the interstate highway system, but through his military leadership during and after World War II as Supreme Allied Commander. When America was at the brink of war
with other nations, Eisenhower, dealt rationally and calmly with every situation, in which he always found a solution that dismissed the idea of war without diminishing America's prestige. Aside from his Military
involvement, he championed the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 under his 1st
term presidency. The passage of the act, according to Eisenhower himself, eliminate unsafe roads, inefficient routes, traffic jams and all of the
other things that got in the way of “speedy, safe transcontinental travel.” The
1950s grew prosperous due to his efforts to balance the budget, and decreasing taxes making Eisenhower universally adored as the right man for the job by Democrats and Republicans Alike.
