Little Rock Nine
The U.S Supreme Court ruled in the case Brown v. Board of Education that schools that are segregated in terms of race, are "inherently unequal." As a result, 9 African-American students enrolled at a school in Little Rock, Arkansas. At Central High School, conflict arose concerning the difference in belief of segregationists and integrationists thus the Little Rock Nine Crisis was born.
Governor Orval Faubus was one who believed very strongly in segregation. He ordered the Arkansas National Guard to block the 9 students from entering the building by creating a blockade. President Eisenhower, in order to maintain the doings of the Supreme Court and to not internationally shame the U.S, ordered the 101st Airborne division into Central High School to make sure the "Little Rock Nine," is safe from Governor Faubus's acts.
